Accessibility

Neighborhood

Small, remote mountain meadows and forest on the southern Sierra Nevada (Kern/Tulare region). The area’s landmarks and draws are the Kennedy Meadows Pack Station / general store, nearby PCT resupply/stop, campgrounds and access to trails, meadows and sequoia pine stands. The vibe is rustic and quiet — visitor traffic spikes in summer months; businesses and roads can be seasonal.

Most visitors arrive and depart by car. Roads are narrow, mountainous and sometimes unplowed/closed in winter. Public transit is very limited: Kern Transit and Eastern Sierra Transit provide infrequent connections on Highway 395/nearby towns (Pearsonville/Inyokern) but those stops are miles from the turnoff and often require a hitch, shuttle or prearranged pickup. Hitchhiking and prebooked shuttle/pack station drop‑offs are commonly used by hikers. Walking around the immediate property/neighborhood is easy, but expect long drives to grocery stores, gas and medical services (nearest full services are in Ridgecrest).
